Nina Kraviz is a famous Russian dentist.

She hung up her drill some time ago to collect records, make music and travel the world.

Her career is so varied that it’s hard to define a particular Kraviz sound: for her it’s the passion, the spirit, the immediacy of the music she plays and artists she champions. Her first artist album was the self-titled 'Nina Kraviz' and she has two expansive, extraordinary mix CDs under her belt for fabric and DJ Kicks. In the last few years she’s focused on releasing her music and that of her fellow travellers on her two labels трип and Galaxiid. The DIY spirit of the labels manifests at small intimate raves in unusual locations around the globe, and occasionally on trip’s to the moon. These трип parties are an intimate antidote to her regular performances at the worlds most revered festivals and clubs. She prefers the personal over the impersonal, conveying the many facets of her musical passions on the radio and often giving talks for students from all walks of life. She likes her burger medium rare, her wine red, her sweatshirts roomy and her tea hot.

Nina现在回复了她自己的Facebook帖子，强调她在音乐世界中对性别和性别歧视的立场。

2016年的Melbourne上，Nina的DJ set由于她的“放飞自我”，被到场乐迷质疑甚至要求退票，“看来我并没有表演他们（观众）预期的Techno风格，不过实际上在我看来，我当天的set其实很Techno，只是我个人对于Techno风格的理解范围比他们想象的要宽广一些。”Kraviz说道。

“他们想让我连续三个小时稳稳地把Techno播放完，但令人惊讶的是，我最后得到的最消极的评价是说我在用Drum&Bass来演奏这一段狂野的Track。”

There is no denying that idiosyncratic, Siberian-born singer/DJ/producer Nina Kraviz has been turning heads of late –and for every reason you might imagine. At her Mixmag Day + Night debut on Brick Lane, she impressed everyone with her vivacity and unabashed love of vinyl. She’s also the kind of girl that most boys would chop an arm off for. Yep, she’s got the looks, but does she have the sound?

If anything, this album is far more personal and introspective than we expected, but that’s its strength. The closest comparison is probably Steffi’s super-deep LP of last year. The hypnotic, bleep-driven opener ‘Walking In The Air’, future single ‘Aus’ (with the kind of majestic 4/4 flight of Carl Craig at his best) and the spoken word/spooky chord interplay that underpin ‘Ghetto Kraviz’ (“Spring! Bounce! Roll!”) all impress.

Then there’s the magnificent ‘False Attraction’ (“I don’t know what it’s all about/I don’t want to stop”) which comes on like a more emotional Electribe 101. And while the album loses some momentum in the middle, she’s back on track with the stark piano master-class ‘Love Or Go’, the brilliant ‘Best Friend’ (like a more acidic Mark E ‘R’n’b Drunkie’) and the closer, ‘Fire’, on which Nina’s voice exudes the same sadness that cuts through the best Sade records. On this bold and deeply personal album, Nina dares you to turn down the lights and put your hand in that ‘Fire’.
